I read it suggested that if we trade Mitch to Pittsburgh that it might take adding a third team. I wonder if our interest in the Boston pitchers could become part of a three way deal between us, Pittsburgh and Boston? I wonder if what we could get for one year of Mitch would be enough to flip them to Boston for a pitcher?

Myself, I would rather go out and get a solid everyday 1B like Davis, but they refuse to spend that kind of money.

I run hot and cold on him, much like his bat. But what if we did sign him? Now we've got a LH bat to replace the LH bat I'm trying to get rid of.

It is funny how quickly opinions change. I remember getting a "smh" or two last offseason when I said I thought Mitch would make a very good backup when others wanted to be done with him.

How many on here wanted nothing to do with Moreland before last season? I supported him longer, harder than most, but after 2014 I'd had my fill too.

I agree. To have Nap you must platoon

Teams I expect the Rangers to converse with regarding starting pitching: Cleveland (Carlos Carrasco), San Diego (Andrew Cashner, James Shields or, less likely due to the expected cost, Tyson Ross), Tampa Bay (to check in on the availability of Drew Smyly, Matt Moore and Jake Odorizzi) and, of course, Miami (to see exactly what the cost would be for Jose Fernandez).

At least it is a better left handed bat and a very good fielding first baseman. It would be very difficult to replace him at 1B with a RH bat. You would have an easier time replacing Choo with a RH bat.

He also said 6 other teams had met with Colby according to Colby's agent. We all know how much we can trust what agents say though.

I'd roll the dice with Mitch and his $6 mil for one year, rather than sign hot/cold Davis for $15-20 mil per for 3+ years.

And how are going to move forward by trading a guy like Choo and having to eat a boat load of money?

In Choo, I think we'd be trading him a year too early. If he hits the average of his 1st half vs his 2nd half last year, his value will ratchet up, if we decided to shop him.
