I suppose you could use white, but it wouldn't add anything but acidity. It would work to tenderize the meat, and provide tartness, but that's it.

Cider vinegar would bring extra flavor to the party.

Some day, I've gotta try it with red wine vinegar. It would also add flavor, but don't know if it would go well with the flavors in the BBQ sauce.

Now white vinegar is good for soakin deer meat in,it really helps take that gamie taste out of the meat.

I haven't tried that, but it makes good sense.

Trust me it works! My grandfather & uncle taught me that old trick.They would use those old tin wash tubs to soak the meat in over night and add water and vinegar to it with some salt.Talk about some good eating!
