Gas cap won't be nothin but a few bucks.You might have a old one settin around somewhere ghost.

the check engine light is on,I figure that's the missing gas cap causing that

Yeah, Blue . . . I know almost nothing about engines [esp. since they put computers / electronics in 'em], but I do know when "Check Engine" light comes on, the first thing to do is check & make sure you put the gas cap on.
[still gettin' used to the new avie!]

Easy fix, Auto Zone.. Don't get it from a dealer...lol My ck engine light came on so I took it to a dealer, they charge me a 100 bucks 2 tell me it would cost me another 25 for a new gas cap... Now I know you can go to any parts store and they have the same machine to ck it and it don't cost a thing, also got the cap for like 5 bucks.
