Nothing could have disguised that fact — even the malfunctioning stadium lights that temporarily threw Candlestick Park into darkness and delayed the game on two separate occasions.

The Steelers should have turned the lights out on Roethlisberger before kickoff. He had no business playing in such a state.

This is my first chance for a postmortum. Just a couple of positive thoughts, if I may.

1) I don't think the loss was anywhere near as bad as it looked. Three of their four scores were on turnovers that wouldn't have happened if Ben wasn't hobbled. And no way in Hell would they have held our boys to a mere three points if Ben was anywhere near 100%.

2) With or without Ben, I don't see the Steelers losing either of their two remaining games, but I surely CAN see the ratbirds choking in Cincy.

3) Our boys won SB XL as a wild card. If our key personnel are healthy, they can do it again.

Gotta agree about the terrible officiating. This was the second night game in which I've seen one of our receivers wrapped...literally wrapped...arms all the way around from behind...on a key play...and yet no zebra called it.

The attempt to block the FG...clearly NOT an infraction, and had no impact on the kick anyway. Should have been a non-call. And that punt fiasco...that fucker hadn't called for a fair catch, and CLEARLY bobbled the ball prior to any contact. They need to start docking zebras' pay for blown penalty calls, or make serious penalties reviewable by someone who ain't wearing a jailbird shirt. There are league monitors who watch every game...perhaps it's time for them to do more than watch.
