I must admit I have always worked indoors since 78, I did the outdoor thing prior to that. Not for me.

Ya got a point, JR. Switching to outdoor work would be a big adjustment for me. I've done it, but that was long ago. Sometimes I wish I could go back to honest, outdoor work with my hands, but I'm past 50...not so easy anymore.

It's all I've done for the last 20 years, plus I'd have a tough time making what I make if I tried to switch jobs now. 2 years ago I was offered a job managing for a company I sub from. Too many hours, about half the day inside and the money wasn't there..Was pretty tempted though.

It's all I've done for the last 20 years, plus I'd have a tough time making what I make if I tried to switch jobs now. 2 years ago I was offered a job managing for a company I sub from. Too many hours, about half the day inside and the money wasn't there..Was pretty tempted though.

Pretty much worked outside for 30 years [since 16]. Been workin' inside at a completely different job for 3 months.
I don't miss outside work one bit.

Don't get me wrong I loved it while I was doing it, but the only way to make any money in construction is to own your own company & that costs way more time and effort than I am willing to give. Even then there are certainly no guarantees. Especially when I see excellent home-builders who can't get work & closing their doors.
