actually they teach the pilots how to use variable wing surfaces .. to get a plane home once it has lost a wing in combat .. the israili pilots have done this with next to no wing on one side of the aircraft .. f-15's

Heavy Metal is a great show

I have seen A10's take similar damage and land, also with one engine only, which is near impossible as well.

The A10 is the best aircraft in our arsenal, followed by the F15 IMO
