godaddy is the best if you want total control over the domain name registration itself, but their actual site hosting is overpriced/underfeatured.

I'd recommend bluehost (from personal experience) for the actual hosting.

I'm speaking assuming you just want shared virtual hosting, not a dedicated independent server.

there are a lot of advantages to it, assuming you can put in the effort
