Yeah. A hut would be a must today.

How thick is the ice?

I don't know I just drove by on 144th and saw the hut down on the West side.

I would imagine at worst it's 5 inches beings it was all open water just a short time ago.

You mean at best?

Those inlets were frozen over mid week. At the same time I saw some open water on the damn side. The geese were taking advantage of it. About half of them were up on the ice and the other half were swimming.

I would trust the shallower inlets, but not the east side. I might spin out there later to see if anyone's out east in the deeper spots. There's no doubt in my mind the open water has frozen over.

I have a system for getting my sidewalks cleaned off. I call it waiting for spring.

I just mean the walkways up to my doors.

I don't have sidewalks out on the street in front of my house. If I did I'd clean them too because it's law in Omaha. If you don't clean them, they will, and send you a bill.

It's not bad out since the wind isn't blowing. My carhartt's were quite comfy. I took a spin out to the lake and the ice is 4 to 5" thick and clear. The farthest east I saw a hut was by the boat ramps probably 50' out. That would be 8-10' deep, Nobody was out further than that.

There were some kids knocking a puck around in one of the bays up at Standing Bear.

I live like 3 minutes away from the lake so I stop down there quite a bit. It's a lot of fun to throw my skates on and mess around for a while. Usually the city brings nets out there, although they haven't yet this year. Sometimes there will be several other people out there and we can have a pickup game. The one drawback of the mild winter so far is that the ice hasn't been thick enough until now.

How do I not have any onion?

I was about to make a cheese soup, but don't have an onion. Making matters worse, I'm too lazy to go out and get one. :tsk:
