Ed: Looks Like Sepulveda's Days Done Here

the numbers in this article are bullshit anyway...the important numbers to a punter are how often you pin them behind the twenty and your teams general field position compared to your competitors.....high total yards and average yards numbers means that you punt for a team with a poor offense, if your punter cant drive an 80 yard punt that means that you offense didn't get past their own twenty....fact is sepulveda consistently kept the ball deep into the opponents end of the field (and not to mention he never pulled any mitch bergers in the endzone)

All along, the Steelers privately expressed confidence that they would re-sign Ike Taylor, and late Tuesday they came through by agreeing to a four-year contract with their best cornerback over the past decade.

thats all the artical sed about ike

having Ike back is a good move if they let him go who would have stepped up

Steelers sign second punter to roster
Wednesday, July 27, 2011
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
The Steelers signed a second punter to their roster and appear to be ready to replace veteran Daniel Sepulveda, who is an unrestricted free agent.

Aaron Bates, who punted for Michigan State, became the 19th rookie free agent to sign a contract with the Steelers this week. He joins Jeremy Kapinos, who punted for the Steelers last season after an injury to Sepulveda, on their roster heading to training camp Thursday.

Sepulveda, a fourth-round draft choice in 2007, missed the final four games of the regular season and the entire post-season last year after his second torn ACL during his time with the Steelers and his third since 2006. He missed the entire 2008 season with the same injury. He also had a torn ACL in the spring of his final season at Baylor.

The team also announced the hirings of Nathan LoCascio as the public relations/media manager and Sonia Gysland as an assistant athletic trainer.

Gysland is only the second full-time female athletic trainer in the NFL, after replacing Ariko Iso, who is now the head athletic trainer at Oregon State University.

The Steelers have agreed to a deal with kicker Shaun Suisham.

Suisham stabilized the kicking game last season after Jeff Reed`s struggles led the Steelers to make a change.

Suisham made 14 of 15 field goal attempts last season after the Steelers signed him in the middle of November. Suisham, 29, missed two fields during the postseason, including a 52-yarder in the Super Bowl.

He cannot officially sign before Friday at 6 p.m., and Suisham is not eligible to practice until Aug. 4, the first of the NFL`s new year.

Suisham, who had been an unrestricted free agent, joins Swayze Waters as the kickers on the Steelers` roster

I see Pittsburgh signed an undrafted FA out of Wisconsin. Running back - good kid - hopes he works out for you. [Big 10 player of the year in '09]

With John Clay - I'd say they did their homework.
Surprised he wasn't drafted.
But, as GB has proved [CBs Williams & Shields, LB Zombo], undrafted guys can make major contributions
