Howdy, Riot. I never bought a watch by mail before. Is this new watch something special, that you can't buy locally, or did you get some great deal on it?

Both, sir, I got it off an apparel website I visit regularly. And it is from a decent watch company called VESTAL that is sold world wide, but only in select stores.

that cover was something developed during the Vietnam War to prevent glint off a watch face giving away your position.

According to one site, it is based somewhat off the 1978 Hamilton Military watch (the nylon strap and watch face look to be the inspiration)

If you look closely the second hand is an AR-15 and there is a grenade on the face lol just though it looked cool

As for the cuddling, gotta say im not too big on that, I would rather watch an episode of Tales of the Gun while I recharge hahaha

This. I work around granite all day and scratch the crap outta my watches and my wedding ring. Also, I just tend to be tough on my belongings in general so anything with a little preventative messure built in is a plus

Interesting watch. I wear a plain ol' Timex electric, though it does have an alarm and calendar that I never use, and a light-up face that comes in handy now and then.

OK, now this is weird. Thinking about watches made me wonder if my Dad's watch is still running. I took it from his wrist on the day he passed away, because his wrist was swelling up around it, and it looked so damned uncomfortable, though I didn't know if he could actually feel it. I had no need for the watch, so I put it in my desk.

I just looked. It's still running, and only a few minutes off. And the thing is, my Dad passed away 4 yrs ago next month. Damn...I'm feeling a bit creeped out, and I'm not sure why.

If it was a wind-up I'd either be calling the Guiness Book of Records or one of those ghost-hunter TV shows.

It's just an ordinary Seiko Quartz.

wow, that is impressive for a wind-up, Im not sure what the average duration they are supposed to be able to go without being wound again, but four years seems a bit high...

i only asked because the self winding watch i wear would only need to be jostled a couple times a week to keep running for quite a while...i figured if it was self-winding and it was in a drawer you opened often enough, that might explain it

Nope...electric...and it wasn't exactly new when my Dad passed. Maybe he had the battery changed shortly before, but I doubt it.
