This system is 100% perfect. If you aren't good enough to win your division or one of the two wildcard slots you don't deserve to make the playoffs. No exceptions; win more games.

It's not even close to being perfect. The fact that a mediocre team from the NFCN or the NFCE makes the playoffs over the Arizona Cardinals, or the fact that we'd have to go on the road to play a lesser teams makes it far, FAR from perfect. It's a garbage system that makes absolutely no sense. It rewards teams for having a terrible division and punishes teams for being a strong division.

yes, wouldn't be happy either, but they aren't the first and won't be the last. every team knows the Division format and know they must win their Division. at least there are two 'outs' for non-Divisional winners with good seasons? IF the Cards don't get in, then they're not even the two best non-Division winners.

the Division format isn't perfect, but don't see positives for removing it? if you remove Divisions, you'd still have inequities with records and thus, inequities with making the play-offs and seeding? so you wouldn't really address the problem of good teams not making it in, or good teams with poorer seeding.

That's dumb logic to justify the system, IMO. Just because it's happened before, and it will happen again, doesn't mean that the Cardinals should just deal with it and move on. It's not easy making the playoffs, and knowing you're the better team, and still missing the playoffs because you're in the "wrong division" wreaks of complete and utter garbage.

The fact that there's a chance (albeit slim) of us NOT making the playoffs, while one of the teams in the NFCN is guaranteed a spot regardless of how bad they are is absolutely ridiculous.

I don't see how anyone can be okay with this system.

It is perfect. If you want to make the playoffs, win your division. The cardinals didn't even earn a wild card and don't deserve to make the playoffs.

Cardinals are one of the best teams in the NFL. If you don't think they are a playoff team and better than half the teams in the playoffs than I question your knowledge.

Wait, so you think an 8-8 or a 9-7 team potentially making the playoffs over a 10-6 or an 11-5 team just because of divisional alignment is perfect?

You're an idiot. That's is all there is to say.

It's pretty fucked up how we can go 11-5 and miss the playoffs. Something needs to be done about this.

Yup, and this is coming from a 49ers fan.

If Arizona misses the playoffs, can anyone honestly say the 6 best teams from the NFC are being represented in the playoffs?

No.

Honestly if this is the best sport in America. How can shit like this happen? How is it any way acceptable that a lower record can get you In the playoffs. Seriously think about that..... No team should get a chance to be in the playoffs. How does winning your division have anything to do with being a better team because you play 6 shitty games. And regardless it's any given Sunday in this world, why the fuck do we reward the shitty teams? Can anyone answer that? Why are we rewarding shittier teams? How can you say it makes sense to have a better record than a playoff team yet you don't make it?

Not good enough to get a playoff berth, most likely.

Win your division or you have no right to complain.

Last time I checked the team that could very well win the NFCE(Eagles), beat the Cardinals. If you don't like it then win more games. Its as simple as that. There's always next season.

Current DIV

setup works imo...I wouldn't focus so much on the record...parity, injuries, cap all impact records...if you win your DIV in the NFL, or just make the playoffs, history shows that it's possible to win the tournament.

Why it works...the NFL aside from the betting aspect is pretty much a regional product....a handful of teams have national appeal...DIV gms twice a yr allows rivalries to grow and develop in some cases into national appeal games.

SF - SEA is a good example...that's a prime time game now but it wasn't 5 yrs ago.

It's easy to sit back in say that when you're in a shitty division.

You realize the patriots have been negatively affected by this perfect setup) missed the playoffs at 11-5), but have generally been ~2-3 seed and not seriously benefited from it, right?

Win your division. Wildcards existing was the compromise. That's all you get. If you can't earn one, too bad.

Cards benefited from this in 2008. 6-0 in division 3-7 against everyone else. 2 other teams finished 9-7 and didn't make playoffs.

This is just a bad Idea. Keep it the way it is. Its more fun like this. Some teams get hurt by it(Arizona this year) but it keeps more team in it and the NFL likes that.

Don't put us all in the same boat. It's only our "friendly" neighborhood mod that feels this way.
