He had to read it line by line and didn't look comfortable in the process, therefore it gave the appearance he's not a good speaker.

I havent seen the presser or anything but he had to read from note cards I mean this is athletics its about emotionality (tropic thunder) It kind of reminds me when HWSNBN had to read a card to remind him to say Go Big Red at the end of his speach.

well he did walk into a pillow its not like he has to do much other then make sure memorial stadium is packed week in and out.

It wasn't note cards. It was a written speech on 8x11 sheets of paper.

He read directly from it (first page to last) ocassionally looking up to the media.

I think that's why the media didn't get the couple of times he tried to use humor. It either sailed right over their heads or it's just not funny when it's being read to you as opposed to being impromptu.
