He's probably still Azzuri material but I don't think there's a chance in hell he's going to France next summer if he's still an MLS player. His best hope would be for Roma or Lazio to make the Champions League knockout stage and have one of them come calling for either a loan (which I doubt TFC would acquiesce to) or outright buy him (in which case he'll be leaving a fuckton of money on the table). It's a tough choice for him.

Saints were drawn against the Danish champions having been seeded for today’s draw, which took place in Nyon, Switzerland.

The first leg will take place at St Mary's on Thursday 20th August, with the return fixture to be played a week later on Thursday 27th August.

The winner of the two-legged fixture will progress to the Europa League group stage.

Was it a trade deadline as well (as in within MLS)? Because apparently TFC traded for his refusal rights then signed him. Maybe in the league's eyes that makes him their player anyway, just one that is out of contract.
