This is actually one of the more fucked up things to happen in a while in an incredibly fucked up sport - Barca were authorized for some reason to sign an extra player outside the transfer window because Dembele was ruled out for the season. They signed relegation-threatened Leganes’ only striker.

Leganes obviously applied for a similar exemption to replace said striker. Spanish FA rejected their application.
