Portland Timbers are aptly named, they keep falling over.
I like going to 1 or 2 games a year. I'd go to more, but I don't really run in a soccer crowd. Plus, unlike a CBJ game, if you go to a Crew game, grabbing a beer/food before heading over and/or after is difficult. Plus, I have heard from people more in the know, that they hadn't put much into marketing.Ultimately, the Crew were an attempt to prove a small city like Columbus could be a "Major League" town. The team is profitable, and enjoy very strong support, but the Blue Jackets get all the attention now (after OSU Football of course). Maybe the owner is just jealous.
There are a lot of loyal fans here and it would be a shame for them to go, but if it has to be, it won't hurt me much. There are no shenanigans in any way other than the owner wants a new stadium. There really isn't any need for it. The team makes money as is.
It's not like when they went through that exercise a few years ago with the Jackets about naming rights and threatening to move. That was all sides just trying to increase their own profits. Nationwide, the city, the team. They held us hostage and got what they wanted.
This guy is trying to hold the city hostage, and they are telling him to go ahead and leave.
