Best possible start for Dallas, in all seriousness. They aren't a playoff team anyway.

Just being cautious with Smith. The injury is not serious.
:agree: Marvin Bagley or Michael Porter Jr would be a nice running mate for DSJ for the next 10 years

Fultz still struggling, though.

Really, if the kid is hurt... Philly should just sit him out for a while.

I’m not sure why they don’t do that. They’ve got people who can fill in: McConnell, TLC, Stauskas, and Bayless can take his minutes. But maybe he isn’t hurt. I don’t know.

Interesting breakdown of his shot....
Very informative video... thank you.

Makes sense. I still don't fully understand why Fultz looks quite so, uh... unnatural... while taking a FT.

I mean, I get it's a process... and with any change in shot there are going to be growing pains... but he's like a blind person groping around out there... like someone learning the game rather than a top playing doing some fine tuning.

It's way early though... we'll see how this situation develops. Kid deserves at least half a season before we NBA fans really tear him apart. :D

Confirmed -- voice is very annoying. There's nothing particular about it that I can say is annoying but it kind of makes me want to slam my head against the wall.

Simmons currently leads the rookies in PPG & RPG (17 & 10). He's got the 2nd most FTA per game (6.5) and 2nd most APG (7) and he has the highest FG% of anyone averaging more than 10 FGA per game (.491).

Keep it up, Ben.

While the voice is annoying, the analysis is spot on and it makes sense.

That said, why are they changing his shot right now? Awful timing.

It usually takes upwards of about 20,000 reps to groove a new shooting form. This can be done in a few weeks, but taking shots in games is counterproductive (seems like this explains Fultz not shooting in games).

They could have done this over the summer. Should be done by now. This looks like the very beginning of the process.

I don't think they are trying to change his shot. He's not able to take any sort of jump shot effectively due a shoulder injury it would seem.

Well, his shot is much different than what it was in college. If you watch the video, you will see.

Also, the FTs really do look like the second half of a shot. One of the first things you do with a player working on form is to start with 1 hand, holding the ball in the shooting pocket. Next, you add the guide hand.

Fultz's FT looks like a form shooting drill.

It's entirely possible. But it's hard to imagine that they would redo his free shot so late in the offseason in such an incomplete way. If he were simply trying to change his FT form, you would think that it would be far more developed by this time, at least the form itself.

I agree.

But, that is definitely what it looks like.

Also, whenever I used to work with players in their shot (always always always in the offseason) I instructed them not to shoot jumpers during pick up games. It makes sense. But yeah, the timing is ridiculously bad.

Well damn! That's impressive. I did not know that.

I had to look this up.

MCW is still in the NBA -- Hornets -- but not playing due to "Knee problems." (maybe an excuse for DNP-Coach)

Time for Lauri Markkanen to join ROY discussion.
