Yes, there's really no other excuse. The course is playing soft and he's playing worse than he has all week or really ever does. Choke job, pure and simple.

In the last two groups on 12 4 of the 6 golfers put it in the water. Obviously a bad shot but the wind was obviously very deceiving. He fell apart after that though.

You're right it's not. But Jack has significantly more runner-up's than Tiger and unless I'm mistaken this is the first major Tiger's won where he wasn't tied/leading after 54 holes. Without looking it up, I'd bet Jack's done that multiple times.
