So let me ask you guys... are you good with going into next season with Case Keenum as our quarterback?

All we need is a somewhat mobile, smart QB who won't LOSE us games Coug.. Our Oline needs a bit more help and we need to keeping beefing up on defense. What you don't understand for some reason is that we are NOT a pass happy team. Our blueprint is more like the Seahawks just not with a mobile QB. Look at Carolina's game plan. You know how crucial it is to have a QB that can get you 3-5 yards on a broken pass play or when no one is open? Carolina's WR's are worse than Philly's.

Rams are inconsistent yes, but we've beaten Seattle twice and AZ in AZ - and the losses nor the wins were solely because of the QB. 5 game losing streak was a head scratcher  Rams are a few pieces away from being really good if coached to be consistent and no we don't need Sam Bradford. Sam needs to go to an up tempo offense like what Chip Kelly runs. Chip might have been an idiot as far as a GM and play calling at times, but his offense is pretty good and it wears down defenses. This works in the Pac 12 and Big 12, but in the NFL it's not about score, score, score.. It's about ball control and playing defense. Even New England has had a good defense, along with that offense. New England's offense is very much like Chip Kelly's offense, but without the HURRY UP.

Historically you are correct that it's not unheard of, but I think it's getting further and fewer between for two reasons.
  1. The current CBA. Notice that none of those first rounders on your list came after 2010, right? That's because the cost of keeping those guys around to see if they pan out is now on the cheap compared to years past.
  2. Spread offenses. As I mentioned prior, the spread offense has taken over CFB, mainly because college defenses have to account for the QB on every play and it makes it difficult for teams without a lot of NFL defensive talent to stop them. The OL guys are limited because not a whole lot is asked of them in spread offenses as compared to pro style offenses. So offensive lineman coming out of college are way behind in their development in moving to the next level. For this reason, almost all offensive lineman are projects. Finding out what you have or don't have, especially at LT, may take a few years.

Or Olineman like GRob that rarely pass blocked and played for an Auburn team that ran 80-90% of the time. :L Bringing that guy into the NFC West to then teach him how to pass block has to be one of the biggest projects the Rams have tried in the last decade - and they have had some serious projects. Not to mention we missed out on Sammy Watkins.

I agree on the spread O / Olineman assessment tho Vita. I think the uptempo of the college game is going to force the NCAA to make some changes in rules TBH. Slowing it down.

Another reason Chip's offense is flawed is that eventually those hits on the QB are going to take a toll. I'm surprised Bradford hasn't been hurt or layed out completely.

@ Chip Kelly's offense~ yah, when it works it wears downs defenses. But when it doesn't work it wears down your own defense and players end up turning against leadership! AKA Chip!

I can't argue with that SJ. Yeah the 5 game streak sucked. The only thing I can think of is the injuries started adding up on D and they were on the field a lot. Get a stud Center and a true #1 WR and we should be pretty good. It will be interesting to see how much they will offer Kennum since he is a FA.

Those first 4-5 games the offense did nothing in the first half of games. That had to wear down the Eagles D. Sometimes it seemed Chip would abandon the run at times in some games. I think he's a lot like Mad Mike Martz was after the 2001 super bowl. Chip would run the ball, but he'd totally go pass happy at times too.

Like I said in a previous post, I'm not sticking up for GRob, just explaining why the dude wont be cut and will be back despite his horrific OL rating.

BTW - I was one of the few with you on the Watkins kid, also wanted Lewan, GRob was not on my radar. I think we could have got either of those kids and still picked up Donald but that still leaves a gaping hole at LT.

Can we get rid of Saffold or trade Chris Long? We need to keep adding young talent, especially on the Oline.

2015 NFL Team Passing Stats - National Football League - ESPN

Interesting stats here. Attempts we are at the bottom. We are at the bottom of about every passing category and will still probably be 8-8. Good ole Fisher ;)

If a good LT falls to us in the 1st round of the 2016 draft, we need to take him and move GRob to LG. No idea if we can trade Saffold, but hell we need a good back-up for him regardless really.

Happy New Year yall. I'm off to watch the Seminoles.

In a couple of those categories you want to be at the bottom, and we are!

Sacks and Sack yards lost we did pretty good, just think a per pass attempt on those categories (INT's too!) would be more telling. For INT's we are middle of the road and shouldn't be considering our last in the league pass attempts per game.

No no no the defense does suck! Granted they had some key injuries like LB Jordon Hicks who will be a stud. I think the Eagles haved moved the ball pretty good on O the D can't use that for an excuse. Last game against the Redskins the Skins snap the ball with under 5 seconds on every play which should give the D plenty of rest and no excuses. They couldn't stop them. Chips kiko Alonzo he brought in is just terrible maybe he's playing hurt but he's been bad. Besides on here I haven't heard anyone say the Phillies D sucks because of the offense.

In the Washington game last week Jason Peters takes himself out of the game in the 4th qtr for no reason. @ 2 days later they fire Chip.

Report: Jason Peters took himself out

yah those reasons are part of the problem as well as Chips quick tempo failure!

The biggest problem the Eagles O has is they can't run the ball. Look at the pass attempts sam had. They know he's going to throw it.
