Never would have imagined AD being traded away. I don't know much about Luka. He played well last year in playoffs.

Can't say I like the other players coming back or losing Christie. Let's hope this is the first of multiple moves. Lakers are now down to one defensive player and no viable starting center.
Losing Christie hurts this season and the future.

He was really developing and he plays good defense, something Doncic doesn’t do.

I am amazed that the Lakers always give up the most in any trade they make.

AD, Christie and JHS plus a 1st given up for basically Doncic ( the other 2 guys are throw in’s for salary purposes ).

That was a stupid trade. They trade one medical, injury-proned Center/Forward for another maybe worse one. They get rid of a First Round Pick and they lose another player who is going to be a good one. Just stupid. Pelinka got suckered into this deal.

Um....are you serious right now?

Most think the Lakers won this in a landslide....I don't but you have to give up something to get something in return. Luka will be the face of the franchise once Bron retires and he's a top 5 player now.....and just 25. While AD is 31.

Now, they need a C and Reaves prolly goes since he is redundant in the same backcourt as Luka with James as well.

I hated it when I first heard it when I woke up this AM but have come around on it.

James is close to retiring and AD is 31. Doncic is 25 and if they keep him and extend him he is the furure.....

Pelinka saw a big name and drooled, without questioning why the Mavs were eager to trade him, or looking at his injury history.

They traded one oft-injured star for a younger, even more injured star plus gave up a budding star in Christie and a 1st rounder, not to mention JHS.

Yea DJ. Me too. Same sentiment. For the long-term, I think the Lakers will keep Reaves to fill the void when James leaves this summer. Now, guys like Milton, Western Knecht, and Bronny may see more playing time in the backcourt. Certainly Vincent will def see more playing time.

Hayes, DFS, and Vanderbilt now become more prominent in their respective roles in the frontcourt. Something tells me that the Doncic/James combo may actually play-out to be a good and successful one. Again, we shall see.

Assuming he actually starts taking care of his body and his already bad knees hold up long term.

Both highly doubtful.

He still is a player that should age alright. Not like he is a super athletic freakish athlete....his game translates to aging well....Hitting outside shots and passing the ball....

The fact the Mavs even considered trading him speaks volumes.

You don’t trade a top 5 player as you put it if there aren’t major concerns over said player.

They were concerned with his conditoning and didn't want to extend him for the super max.

Also, the Lakers defense got significantly worse with this trade.

Doncic didn’t play good defense when he wasn’t overweight or had bad knees.

They lost AD and Christie, both good defenders.

The Dallas GM called up Rob and said he was interested in AD and offering Luka.....no way Rob says no to that knowing Bron is close to retiring.

Exactly!

Do you think his conditioning miraculously improves just because he’s on the Lakers?

You think Rob is done?

Reaves most likely gone now since Luka and Bron both handle the ball and score a lot....Rob will be looking for a C on the trade market.

Claxton, Capela, etc.

Jokic has a similar body type and he is just fine playing basketball....recording triple doubles.....like Luka does.

The Lakers got Luka's medical records before making this trade.....Rob did his due diligence.
