Well it makes sense because the titles have been dominated by 3 teams


Unless you were drafted by the Spurs, Heat, or Lakers it is unlikely you won a title with your team.


Since those teams spent most of the last 15 years drafting much lower, it makes the argument work.


Plus, the arbitrary 15 year cutoff eliminates guys like Kobe, Duncan, and Dirk.

Yeah, but it was still the Lakers who picked Kobe, by telling the Hornets to pick him.

White Mamba, having high lottery picks/subsequent players has helped most every team that got to the dance.

For example, Miami's first rise came on two consecutive years of excellent drafting, one of Butler, one of Wade. They kept Wade and used the Butler asset to get Shaq.

Another is how the Celtics drafted and used their top 10 lottery picks to immediately acquire KG.

But its true, you dont need the picks to be top 10. They just have to have them in round 1, and them to be smart picks (See Spurs)
