He has plenty of hockey left....cant LA still work a deal on his contract?
If so and the Rangers don't have to pay much on his tab, He would be a fit in NY.
I don't know the specifics on which the Rangers and Kings can deal.

Can't restructure NHL contracts. They're guaranteed, so the cap hit would remain the same regardless.

They'd have to eat a lot of that contract and not want much in return. I didn't realize the extent of the deal.

i read somewhere that the recall rule (team pays 50% of salary) is no longer in play? is that correct?

I just cant understand the kings doing this to save $900K on the cap. man. just seems brainless overall.

Lombardi said it was being done for him to work on his game. So, in other words they'd rather have the ability to call up a $900k player than have Richards on the ice. Which is sad.

It could mean a lot.
Right now the Kings are over the cap (Voynov).
By being slightly below the cap they can save cap space come trade deadline. That means they can trade for a 4 mil player ( maybe) and not have to clear 4 mil of space.

The Kings have assigned Mike Richards to the Manchester Monarchs.

Flames talking to Kings about Richards | Home | Calgary Sun

"For a deal to make sense, a team like the Flames would insist the Kings sweeten the deal by adding a player like Tyler Toffoli or Tanner Pearson as part of a swap that would see the Flames send an overpaid player or two to L.A. as part of the deal."

I mean, sure, give me one of the best young scorers in the game and I'll gladly take a shitty contract off your hands. Oh and you have to take Engelland too.

lol, how about no

The Kings will not give up Tyler Toffoli or Tanner Pearson just to get rid of that contract - the Kings are better off keeping Mike Richards in the minors this year and then in the playoffs if they get there, bring him back and he'll be refreshed for the playoff run

at this point, for the Kings its about minimizing the cap hit they will have to eat in ridding themselves of Richards ... I think a team will bite on that type of trade and not ask for one of the Kings young guns in return closer to the deadline

That's the whole point

But any person who think the Kings should and will give up 70 or 73 just to get rid of that contract is in the running for stupidest idea in the history of stupid ideas - it's flat out flaming stupid on every possible level

He's the extra special secret weapon that no one else in the league wanted to have for free. This feels like an after school special now.
