@FelixPotvin has been talking about that a lot this afternoon. The positives and negatives to swapping Clarkson and Richards. Similar deals, but worth swapping?

Fuck, I dunno. Who's cheaper to buy out in two years? WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME, CAPGEEK?!

Anyone notice that Dustin Brown is making more than Clarkson and putting up Clarkson-like numbers these days?

that info on Phaneuf (aka 210) was out there

I wanted to ask who 210 was. I just call him Celine.

Knew that was out there, but the Clarkson angle was new to me (although the money still wouldn't work for LA). I'm guessing the Leafs are offering him to everybody, though. Mostly to riotous laughter on the other end of the phone, but...

The hawt rumour today for "210" is Dallas. Any more James Neal's lying around??

Slide him right into the 3rd line for the Rangers. They need help up the middle. Put him between Hags and maybe JT Miller. All of a sudden they're not weak up the middle.

I mean, not the worst idea I've heard.

Does he offer more than, say, Jordan Staal would though?

Good point and I doubt it. The Rangers lost 2 #2's when they picked up Clowe 2 or 3 years back and 2 #1's in the St Louis deal (2nd #1 kicked in when they made the cup) so picks aren't really available. People like JT Miller's potential but I think he's a bit of a head case.

I'm just looking for a 3rd line center for my squad. They've been playing well but they'll need to be better in faceoffs to advance this year. Losing faceoffs is killing the PK. They don't even need a top guy, a decent faceoff man who can hit and kill penalties.

The only worse idea is signing Andy MacDonald for $30 million for 6 years.

The Rangers giving Wade Redden 6 years and 36 mil 7 or 8 years ago was worse. Granted back then you could bury someone in the minors and avoid the cap hit until the off season.

I think the word you were looking for isn't "sad" dash, it's "laughing."

As in "I can't stop laughing because the Islanders are still paying me over $2M this season."

I'd like to see the Senators take him for a nothing asset (Greening, Smith, etc,) that is relatively cheap. In return the Kings have to part with an asset (2nd rounder or so).

I'd also give up a more useful player (Neil, Wiercioch, Condra) if the asset gets better.

Then buy out Richards if he sucks for the rest of the year.

this would require Melnyk opening his purse strings though. Not bloody likely.

Scott Gomez is pleased that you guys aren't talking about him. Yet.

Another Glen Sather beaut. The only thing worse was the idiot Habs giving us McDonah in the trade for him

Makes no sense for the Sens - especially if Melnyk isn't going to spend - and the Kings aren't giving up a higher pick either

Same with Chris Drury, Bobby Holik, Darien Hatcher...

Other than Hatcher there's a theme in a lot of these. Gomez, Holik, Redden, Drury.....lotta Glen Sather contracts

Kings potentially eat a lot on this deal, but if I'm a Kings fan celebrating two Cups in three seasons with Richards on board, I'm not THAT upset.

Wish cap geek was still active.
I think the Kings eat a little if he retires now. After 2015/16 season the penalty goes away because his salary and cap hit are even for the rest of the deal.

He has plenty of hockey left....cant LA still work a deal on his contract?
If so and the Rangers don't have to pay much on his tab, He would be a fit in NY.
I don't know the specifics on which the Rangers and Kings can deal.
