I'm sure he would get plenty of ice time in Edmonton, but it is Edmonton...That place could destroy a young kid's confidence.

30 teams will be looking at him.
this is just a guess as to which teams may have the most legitimate shot.

29 teams are currently not allowed to talk to or about him, as he is still Ducks' property.

What will you do if Edmonton gets Ryan Murray and Justin Schultz?

:boink:

:ss:

:heh:

Since I'm ignorant, any of you know why Schultz doesn't want to sign with the Ducks?

He's got an ego the size of Doughty's - is he as good?

If his answer is "Because fuck Anaheim, that's why." he will instantly become my favorite non Shark.

lol - I still have supreme confidence in Lowebellini to make a complete mess of things in Edmonton. If they ever do get the defense and goaltending figured out, the young kids like Hall, Eberle, and the Nuge will be looking for the big dollars because those ELC's will have expired. Of course, the big unknown is what's going to happen to the salary cap, it could still continue to go up, but it might go down. This new CBA could put a severe crimp in the Oilers neverending rebuilding plans.

He wanted to finish school, and by the time he was done, only has to wait a month or so to become a UFA. might as well keep the doors open, right?
However, he still has to sign an ELC (not sure why that rule is in effect for his situation, and not for someone like Gilroy), so there is not going to be a bidding war in terms of cash.

There was speculation that he wasn't thrilled when the Ducks shipped his buddy Gardiner out of town, but I don't know where that comes from. Toronto media hoping Schultz follows sit, most likely.

in short...

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Word out of Wisconsin is ANA draft Justin Schultz filed paperwork to quit school. Neither Ducks nor Schultz's reps responding for comment.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
If Schultz has indeed de-registered from school, ANA has exclusive 30-day window to sign him. If unsigned after 30 days, he's UFA.

Mr. Schultz, if you're reading this: Philly is a great town, sir.

to borrow from your sig line:

What? Why?

It just rubs me the wrong way that Burke drafts both Schultz and Gardiner for Anaheim, only for Schultz to get uptight when Anaheim trades Gardiner to Burke's new team. The whole reason Gardiner was part of the package for Beauchemin was because Anaheim didn't want to give them Schultz. And now they might get both? Only Brian Burke could orchestrate this kinda crazy.

seems to be a Burke / Murray issue more than reflecting on Shultz.
I can see where you are coming from though, I dislike RJ Hamburgler a great deal, due largely to his bitch-fit after he was drafted (didn't sign with the first two teams that held his rights).

well ... here's to hoping that Mike gillis will subtlely drop a nugget on Schultzs agent and say ... "you know ... we've had talks with Brian Burke about trading Luongo for Jake Gardiner ... just sayin ... just sayin"
