That's why I'd take him for the 1yr rental if I'm a playoff team. Decline his fifth yr option and let him walk which should be enough to play his ass off for a FA contract.

I understood what you were saying. but then you say you wouldnt give more than a 5th & I am pretty sure the Jags will ask for more than that. Which brings us full circle to just waiting for him to be a FA.

Chances are he'll get over paid in FA so I'll pass. If the Jags want more I'll pass on that as well.

Win now and not care what happens after, and get a head start on negotiations would be the big two.

But even then I wouldn't trade much.
