You're just lucky Norris candidate Paul Martin didn't show up. He'd already have a hat trick and would have single-handedly prevented all four Flyer goals, whether he was on the ice or not.

Instead, you got hasn't gotten his timing back yet since the injury Paul Martin.

Also, 22,000! I think this is a good post for that milestone.

At least Fleury showed up :D

One striking thing about watching the Penguins: they seem like a joyless group. Robotic, sometimes high-strung, but completely joyless

...really? Never gotten such an impression. That said: Billy Guerin, where art thou?

Agreed. He's useless. Orpik's very close to useless, too. I'd rather see Despres and Bortuzzo in those spots. Letang, Niskanen, Eaton, Martin, Despres, and Bortuzzo would likely be my six right now.

I agree. And going forward, I'd like if they made a serious push at a stay-at-home defenseman that can clear space in front of Fleury and actually insulate him.

I'm so glad that Despres is out so that Deryk Engelland can play. And Tyler Kennedy. *twitch*

Remember that whole "accountability" thing? Yeah.

100% agree...but WHO? I just have a feeling there's going to be minimal movement. Too many teams too close to the top.

I reiterate: I don't expect a win, but I expect effort and composure. THAT is the sign of an between period adjustment by the coaching staff. Still...second period is the period of doom for the Pens.

Pittsburgh is carrying play early this period. Great pressure leads to a goal.

Oh no. The Lavvy timeout. The beginning...of the end.

Well, they've certainly come out better this period and it shows.

Putting Vokoun in was the right move. Whether the goals were Fleury's fault or not, you want to take him out before the game gets out of hand and his confidence takes a hit.

That's another silly penalty on Schenn. He played that pretty well. Knocked Sid down, but legally. Silly, silly, silly. So far Niskanen's is the only one that made any semblance of sense.

Yeah, that was a bad call. Make-up call for one of Neal's?

The really unfortunate side was that it was a good play by both Crosby and Schenn. Schenn to stop Crosby's progress, Crosby to keep the puck alive.

Yeah, that was a bad call. Make-up call for one of Neal's?

That's why make up calls are ridiculous. They merely start a bad string of piss poor officiating. Spirals out of control.

Agreed. And it was a really bad time for a make-up call anyway.

In any case, the powerplay was very crisp. No goal, but a good powerplay anyway.
