I didn't think Lynn should have been picked as one of the original pitchers for the All Star game but when Minor took himself out I thought Lynn should have replaced him. But for selfish reasons I am glad he wasn't so he would be ready to pitch tonight.
Woodward would have talked him into not going.

I saw on MLB Network last night that Lynn is tied for 2nd in the MLB with 5 consecutive starts of 7 innings or more during the season. First was Scherzer with 7.

America's favorite past time that we have all loved most of our life and now we want to change it. Balls and strikes are a large part of the game. Nothing is perfect. If the umpire misses a call, that is terrible!! If the batter misses several pitches, he gets a pass. Leave the game alone. Video cameras have made the game better true enough but it should stop there. Wonder how the record books may be effected? Koufax may be better or worse than thought. Ha

I wonder if Joe Maddon would come out and start screaming at a robot umpire for their calls on balls and strikes. :D

The best thing about using robots is that they don't have a union...yet.

How are they going to favor certain veteran players over rookies if they use robots? I guess they would have to do something radical, like treat every player equal.

I wonder if they will program each robot to have a different version of the strike zone so that it seems like nothing has changed?

Bring on the robots!

Really outside of mold of new age pitchers. Little bit of Colby he has been compared to Challenging batters. Hangs tough. Plays hard. Guy deserves a chance to win. We did well picking up him and Minor

I'll be in the great smoky mountains in less than a week, staying in Asheville for a couple days
Nice! Love The Old Mill Restaurant in Pigeon Forge and white water rafting outside of Gatlinburg. Have always wanted to go over to Asheville but never made it that far. Hope you have a great time. If you are going I-40 be ready to dodge the thousands of 18 wheelers.

Well we should hope the base model of the robot umpire is not:

Sorry, but I disagree..........Here's a chart which was done after the 2018 season showing what happens with 2 strikes.

Umpires’ biased judgment when a batter has a two-strike count:

Plus, each umpire has his own strike zone, which is absurd. And to make matters worse, you have guys like West and Hernandez who punish guys they don't like. You all have seen it happen.

I know where you're coming from, but this is an easy fix to me......If they aren't going to use it, then they shouldn't show the zone on the screen each game. It just illustrates how poor a job the home plate umps do IMO.

I'm attaching the complete article. It's rather lengthy and I don't hang on every stat, but the overall evidence seems overwhelming.

MLB Umpires Missed 34,294 Pitch Calls in 2018. Time for Robo-umps?

Then we could stop worrying about the catcher's ability to frame pitches and judge catchers on actual baseball abilities.
