God I hope you are wrong because that's a 100+ loss team

Exactly how many new starters are we going to get for next season? Sounds like in your mind, 3 for sure and I assure you this isn't going to happen. At least that's my opinion.

And it might surprise you how much better some starters perform when the offense scores a few runs for em.

Not to mention we might not be a 100 loss team with Nick Martinez replacing Holland in that scenario

So Holland replaces Martinez and we become a 100 loss team? Think before you type in the future...

BTW I don't think we lose 100 games this year, it'll be close but I think we just get in under

A lot of folks tend to give up on young players too early. Then once their opinion is formed it is hard to change their mind.

:agree:..........Like a guy like Nick Tepesch. Tepesch is never going to be confused for a #2 starter IMO. But he looks like he may be a capable #4 or perhaps #5.

His ERA this season has been quite acceptable, and like you said, he's only 25 years old.

Let's let the season play out, get these younger guys some winter league innings, go to ST and see who earns the spots.

When it comes to 2015 I would just as soon lose 100 than lose 80. Mediocrity is no good at all unless you have a whole lot of youngsters who are expected to improve greatly in the future. Our offense will not be full of youngsters at all. With guys like Choo, Fielder, Rios, Moreland and Beltre that doesn't describe the 2015 Rangers. That being said I don't think next year's team loses anywhere near 100 games. I do think we are destined for mediocrity unless we have injuries to some of our better players.

I still don't think Rios or Moreland are here next year, I'd rather just pay Rios 1 million to not be here

I really hope you're right about this. JD seems to think Moreland is the second coming of Will Clark or Mark Teixera. The guy has had numerous opportunities to trade him and has never pulled the trigger, then somehow Moreland ends up in the starting lineup every year until he gets hurt a few times, ends his season early, tells JD he will hit 50 home runs next year, and JD buys it every time. I would've got rid of the guy 2 years ago.

Do you realize how absurd this statement sounds?

If you wanted to get rid of MM two years ago, you may have been right. But to even suggest this statement has any basis for fact is ridiculous.

No kidding. Some games were pitched well enough to win and lost due to offense failure to score a few runs.:agree:

Gallo hit number 40 last night. Right now he would probably look like Chris Carter if he were to be called up. Hopefully he can become a little more like Adam Dunn.

Moreland has to be doing SOMETHING to convince JD to keep him on the field, because it's definitely not his on-field performance. I didn't mean it as a true statement....... Maybe Moreland has some incriminating photos of JD. I just don't get why the guy is still here, first base / DH are easy positions to fill.

I'm assuming you mean the good Adam Dunn with a .250+ average?

I mean the Adam Dunn with a career walk rate of 15.9% , 123 wRC+, and .858 OPS.

The strike outs are going to happen, but if his career ceiling was Adam Dunn, I wouldn't be angry.

Heh, Bennie is worried about Gallo's strike outs and doesn't want him rushed. I am sure he thought that was premium insight. I think anyone reading the story understand that information.

SO's are pretty common. Forty HR's are not.

I think JD keeps him because he is cheap.

Yes, strikeouts are common, but not 99 of them in 213 ABs. He did a great job this year in getting his strikeouts down in Myrtle Beach. He just needs to do that again and I have no doubt that he will. I have a feeling that in a year from now his strikeouts will still be plenteous, but not nearly at the rate they are now, he will have a much better average and he will still be hitting all of those HRs. Then he should be ready. Not that any of that is "premium insight" for Rev or anyone else, but then again it wasn't meant to be.
