The Denver Broncos currently have four quarterbacks on their roster, thus the title reference.
  1. Trevor Siemian
  2. Paxton Lynch
  3. Brock Osweiller
  4. Chad Kelly
It is widely speculated that the Broncos are going to bring in a QB through Free Agency, through the draft or one of each. Clearly there isn't room for 5-6 quarterbacks on the roster. I'm curious what everything thinks will happen with our current QB room and maybe some opinions on what you think the Broncos should do. Obviously, Denver will need a backup QB and someone for the practice squad. I know a lot of fans want to see what Chad Kelly has but is there any reason to hang onto Siemian, Lynch or Osweiller? None of them represent much in trade value, IMO. It would seem that player cuts are going to be inevitable.

Personally, I might consider retaining Osweiller. I think he can be a capable backup, he's a veteran, a good teammate, plays with some passion and has proven to have the ability to come onto the field and drive the offense at times.

I think they'll end up with: QB1 FA or #5 overall draftee, QB2 Paxton Lynch, QB3 Kelly on the Practice Squad. Goofy Giraffe 1.0 isn't under contract next year. Goofy Giraffe 2.0 is cheaper to keep than to let go, Siemian screwed himself off the roster with poor play, Kelly should be a safe cut if he doesn't blow up in the preseason. I could see keeping Kelly on the active roster if he flashes, but they cut Sloter and he got signed away so I don't know if they would be willing to do that.

I think what happens with the 4 QBs is really depending on what happens. Brock is a free agent so we would have resign him. Here are the options as I see them:
1. Bring in Cousins and we either draft a guy in the first 3 rounds to be his backup and cut/trade Siemian and Lynch.
2. Bring in Cousins and cut or trade Siemian with a late round guy to complete for development spot.
3. Bring in a stop gap guy (Taylor, Brees, Manning, Smith) and draft a guy at 5, cut/trade Siemian and Lynch.
4. Bring Brock back and draft a guy at 5 to be the future, cut/trade Siemian and Lynch.

I am sure I missed the actually scenario that will happen, but these are what comes to my simple mind at this point.

Mike Klis of 9News is reporting that the Broncos are trying to move Trevor Siemian and will not pursue Brock Osweiller in free agency. Looks like Chad Kelly and Paxton Lynch will remain on the roster for now, if the Broncos are successful in trading Siemian.

I still think the Broncos pick up a free agent QB and draft one.

I'll tell you right now - the rumor the Broncos want to trade Siemian - dooms any trade of Siemian - as the league will feel - Siemian gets cut anyway.

I do think - he is worth a low pick as back up depth somewhere. Especially, a place that has a legit run threat.

I see what you mean, but if the Broncos want to trade Siemian then they have to put out feelers and talk to other teams. Having it 'leak' means that he probably understands the situation and the team is trying to do what is best for all parties. Ideally we get something in return for him and he gets to go to a team where he has a chance to make the roster, and some team gets a guy that can be a back up. Maybe some team that is going to draft a QB high that wants to have at least one QB on the roster that has started games, and has shown the ability to play well at some point. There will be a lot of QB mobility on rosters in the NFL this year. The Broncos should try to take advantage of that.

I still think our roster will look something like 1) Cousins, 2) Lynch, PS) Kelly.

It is possible that Trevor's current contract will be cheaper then a FA deal. That would be the big benefit. The compensation is probably a 7th round pick.

The big benefit of keeping a terrible QB over trying to find a better QB is because he's cheap? That is big. Why doesn't every team do that?

No it would be a reason a team might trade for Trevor if they wanted him to be their backup instead of waiting to try to sign him as a free agent.

I saw somewhere that Denver is rumored to be interested in trading for Foles. Not sure that excites me a lot. He is up and down.

He was/is the better of the two AZ QBs from that year.

Who doesn't want instant success?

and he improved each year?

I find it funny you say this when you claim you didn't watch the team this year and it shows because Siemian didn't improve this year. He took about 5 steps back and that was obvious. You really didn't even have to watch a game to know that.

and no. Siemian does not have a winning record actually.

Get your shit together crash- You're better than this. We have higher expectations amongst our posters around here then this garbage.

I still love you, but come on man! You can do better.

That being said anytime a QB had two years starting experience he has some value to other teams. It won't be much but he does have some value as a backup.

We really need to sign a QB and draft a QB.

I take that back Siemian does have a winning record as a starter, but he has not been good. He took steps backwards this year. We need to win, not keep giving a guy who has very little upside who is still making mistakes that most rookies aren't even making in the league our time of day.

This one isn't even open for debate. Trevor Siemian doesn't even deserve to be talked about in our starting QB position for next year. He isn't an NFL starting QB. Plain and simple.

He starts well and regresses every year... He is easy to gameplan form. Multiple coaches/d cords have said the game planning for Siemian is very simple. You can't have that with your starting QB, easy to game plan for makes the same mistakes over and over and has gotten worse. He's like playing against the Cleveland Browns in tecmo super bowl. You run two defenses to stop him.

He is a ball hawk and pass rushers dream come true.

He's trash as a starter. No need to bring him up for debate in terms of starting for this team next year. Get out of here with that talk.

Again, Crash we all love ya but you can do so much better. Sometimes you just have to swallow your pride and move on.

I thought Ahmaad Galloway was our next Terrell Davis. It happens. big deal. Move on! He just simply isn't going to work here.

I thought rolling with Trevor was the right choice as I believed he would continue to progress, but obviously I was wrong. I think both Trevor and Brock are above average to great backup QBs, but not starters. Lynch might be a serviceable starter, but I don't know that Elway will be patient enough for Lynch to develop. I would not be sad if the only QB left on the roster going into training camp is Kelly.

I stand on what I believe . I also think people are way to damn easy on giving up on the QB's we got .

If we could land something that is a for sure then yes . the problem with giving up after two years the drafting a QB is Dumb and then not put 4 years to see what you got is nuts !

You have that right .. But I tell you this QB's in the NFL take time to be good . Were they are able to know what is what and around year 3 the light starts to come on . Some take 4 years to get what all the D's will throw at them .
