2. Chris Petersen, Washington
2. Chris Petersen, Washington
Chris Petersen is just a fantastic coach. We saw it at Boise State, and while I expected he'd turn Washington around, even I couldn't believe how quickly he not only got the Huskies to the top of the PAC-12, but to the College Football Playoff. Most of the coaches I considered for this list are here in large part because of the programs they're leading. When it comes to Petersen, as long as he's at a Power Five program, he's a candidate to win a national title. He's just that good.

Petersen has so much pull at Washington that he could say 'I want a new AD' and the current one would be gone tomorrow. That would never happen though seeing how the AD is nothing more than his personal secretary. He even makes those ghey purple colors look good!

Thanks and goodluck to Boise St.. Harsin should have a heck of a team this year imo ... at least at the skilled positions. The dude is a pimp. Straight class through and through. Good luck this season and beyond. I'll be rooting for y'all.
Wait
Herman is on this list after losing to Navy, SMU, and Memphis last year.
Gee
Why not put another 50 Coaches on the list if that's your criteria.
No shit. Where's our coach?
You know, 'ol what's his name.
I'd like to know how Kirby Smart made the 'Honorable Mention' list at the bottom of that link in the OP. Kirby has been a HC for a total of one season so far. He's knocking it out in recruiting but that doesn't always spell championships. If this is the best they can come up with, my money is on a repeat winner this year.
McElwain @ Florida? I think Coach O has a better chance, he has more talent anyway.
Tom Herman @ Texas? Seriously? He hasn't even coached a single game for Texas.
Clay Helton @ USC? USC beat a total of 3 teams with winning records last year. At least they have the talent for a run, but the reality is he's a 2nd year coach.
Chris Petersen @ Washington - The only coach with a chance and proven to be in such a conversation.
Harbaugh @ Michigan - Couldn't even finish better than 3rd in his own division while a team with the most players drafted, almost half the starters. Only a matter of time before Michigan figures out he's a more annoying version of Bo Pelini with 1 extra win a season.
Peterson doesn't have the horses yet.
McElwain is a joke.
Don't get me started on Herman
I thought Michigan lost a lot is that not accurate?
Franklin at Penn State was impressive last year.
Lincoln Riley could make a run if a few pieces fall into place.
