So are any of you folks watching the Expanse? It has been even better this season than last season. They are doing a great job bringing the books to the screen.

Just watched the latest episode. Very solid episode. Maybe the best episode yet.

I kinda like the show, but it is a bit dry for my tastes. I never read the books, though.

I get that. I really do. But it kinda suffers from the same problems 2001 suffered from. Reality is boring, even if it is incredibly interesting.

I think the show has picked up quite a bit this season as they can now move to story telling and beyond world building. But this show will never be Star Wars type action.

But the political intrigue part is fascinating.

Yeah, I was worried about this show from jump, a LOT of info to unload on people who haven't read the books.

I'm pleased that it's made it this far, show ain't cheap.

Agreed. It isn't EXACTLY like 2001, but it I still similar in that it is dry by design. There isn't any homorous banter between a roguish pilot and a fuzzy alien or a ball-busting princess character. It is trying to be a realistic look at the future and a serious look at how life may be once we get off this rock.

That desire has natural problems, one of which is dryness.

Ya, I got you. Remains to be seen how the show develops obviously, but there's a LOT of personality about the 4 main characters that gets revealed as the books unfold.

Avrasala is a decent character on the show, in the books she's a LOT more of the same. We've barely even met the Martian marine Bobby, and she's a good character int the books too.

But question is, will a wider audience hang around until they finish laying out all the backstory/factions.

So looks like we have the Bobby Draper character finally synch'd up to where she was in the books which is a good thing. Her storyline was my least favorite.

Amos was my favorite character in the book and he is finally showing that personality in the show.

I think it's interesting that they write her as basically a Polynesian Brienne of Tarth in the books, she's much more the conventional female protagonist in the show.
