If its true he got $4 mill to walkaway he may actually have made a pretty wise choice. I mean Buffalo has no QB and no 1st round pick. He may not land another HC gig but he will catch on somewhere.

I like Schwartz as a DC, not a HC. Rumors are the Jets are connected. Along with Buffalo rejecting an extension requested by Marrone which included Hackett (OC). Fishy all around. Polian rumors as well, I like what Whaley (GM) has done, but none better than Polian. Funny if Whaley and Marrone ended up in NYJ.

Marrone is well respected in NFL circles and should have no trouble getting another coaching gig.

He's now available to interview with any team. The Bills recent ownership change triggered a three-day opt-out clause in Marrone's contract. Marrone led Buffalo to a 9-7 record this season, but reportedly didn't have full support from the front office. His in-game coaching decisions and conservative approach had also come under scrutiny. The Jets are believed to have "strong interest" in Marrone to replace Rex Ryan, while Chargers OC Frank Reich is expected to be among Buffalo's top candidates.

The craziest part of Marrone's opt-out clause is that the Bills have to pay him $4 million in 2015 -- no matter what. There was no offset clause in the contract, so if Marrone gets hired by another team, he'll make his new salary plus his salary from the Bills.
