Chewbaccer
Illustrious Potentate
Forrest Gump. Part of it was about Nam anyways.
When people mention Kellys Heros, are they talking about the original or the one with Bruce Willis and Colin Ferrell? I have never seen the original, so I don't know if the stories are the same, but as for the Willis pic, I would agree with 4d20 that is not quite a war movie. More of a court-room movie... kinda.
Absolutely, hands down #1 (can't believe nobody mentioned it):
Band of Brothers
(I've prolly watched the whole series at least 20 times - HBO did a magnificent job with making it real and the vivid characterization of these real life men ... it's like you actually got to know them)
Some others IMO, not mentioned already, in no particular order:
The Last Samurai
Mister Roberts
Fail Safe
In Harms Way
Battle of the Bulge
The Alamo (original)
Memphis Belle
12 O'clock High
Born on the 4th of July (kinda war flick - true story of Ron Kovik)
They Were Expendable
The World at War documentary.
WWII in Color documentary.
