I figured since we have done Westerns & Comedies we should do War Movies.

There are like the others so many to choose from, obviously I will not be able to include all of the greats so there will be other listed.

It took me more than 5 minutes to post the Poll. Ugh!!!

I don't have mod powers in this forum to erase this thread and make a new one either. :L

I don't like the older ones, too unrealistic.

The Hurt Locker was good, Black Hawk Down, We were soldiers

For me, SPR has to start the conversation. Absolutely AMAZING flick.

Schindlers List was really good, but I look at that as more of a period piece than a war movie (IMHO).

Das Boot was really good, but IMHO, I look at sub-movies as their own sub-genre (no pun intended) as well (HfRO, Das Boot, Widowmaker, etc)

River Kwai, Dirty Dozen, All's Quiet, etc are all good, but I am not familiar enough with those older movies to rank.

FMJ and Hamburger Hill were both powerful as well. FMJ was absolutely ground-breaking.

Could Star Wars 4-6 be considered war movies?

Probably wouldn't make my top 30 war movies. I did like the opening scene but the rest of the movie wasn't up to the same quality

Agree.

However, I fear that my expectations ruined this movie for me. I was so excited to see it and was VERY under-whelmed.

I will say that the opening scene was exactly what I was looking for, though. I just felt like Jarhead did what the rest of the movie was trying to do and did it better and no one really talks about Jarhead
