I'm torn on wether we go WR first and RB in the 2nd round.....we have an early pick in round 2 where we could take Hampton if we go receiver first.

We go RB first and not sure what WR would be available in round 2.

Not sure but it sounds like we may go Jeanty.....just unsure on what I would do if I were in charge.....LOL.
It does seem to be a thinner than usual draft for WRs this year. But there will undoubtedly be some talent remaining on day 2.

I have also thought about improving the OL as well.....since it regressed last season but I think getting a more mobile QB in Geno is the Raiders plan.....

LOL.

Well, there's no questioning whatsoever the need for the Bears to strengthen both sides of the trenches in thi draft, and that's despite a rather successful free agency/trade period this offseason by our GM. Then again, it shows just how poor we were last year, especially on the OL side of the ball.

You did a good job already on the OL.

I agree about adding to the DL.

The Bears probably should go defense (DL) in round 1 and RB in round 2.

Makes the most sense.

We have two picks in the 2nd round, so throw in someone from the OL as well and that sounds like a plan!

I liked what you did last offseason on getting some talent at the skill positions and last season clearly showed you needed to strengthen the OL and defense.

Congrats.....you guys did. The draft could cap a great offseason.

I could see Jeanty not panning out and being worthy of being picked that high. Not saying he'd be bad but not totally convinced we should go RB that early. It's a high pick.
He should be pretty good, but I could see him being overrated due to the conference he was in in college. I could see Hampton being the best RB in this draft.

Nor would I.

This will be the first draft in a while, where going in, it is wide open, unknown, speculation abounding, uncertainty.

Without question the most wide open draft in years, if not ever. And not just for the Bears, there seems to be multiple options with the first pick for just about every team in the league. This might be the first time when I can't come up with a single final mock - there are just too many variables. But then again it's what makes this year's draft so intriguing and fun!

In 2024 there were 10 trades in round 1.
In 2023 there were 15 trades in round 1.

This could be a wild round 1.

This is where I really wish I was a fly on the wall in the draft war rooms. I believe like many others that trading back still remains at the top of our wish list. But finding that willing trade partner is always so much easier said than done. And it's why I don't bother coming up with a mock that involves any trades, whether they're up or down, even tho every draft Poles manages to find trading partners at some point. Because I haven't a clue as to which team that's willing to engage. Hopefully he finds one at 10 because I suspect the top players from his BPA list will be gone by the time we're on the clock.

One of our dudes will fall to us at 10 and we'll take him is my guess. We've been preaching the trade down idea for years and the only one we did was 1 spot and it was the wrong choice giving up an MVP caliber player.

I'm thinking of the long term with that trade. I knew in the short run that the Eagles would win out, but 3 years from now, 6 years from now? I'm patient.

Here's a list of some of the UDFAs the Bears have added:

Not familiar with any of these guys, which stands to reason being none of them were drafted, but I'm gonna keep an eye on three in particular.

Major Burns, S LSU
Xavier Carlton, Edge Cal
Jonathan Kim, k Mich St.

Burns and Carlton might have a decent shot at making the roster, assuming their collegiate play transfers well to the pros. And if nothing Else, Kim should give Cairo Santos a bit of a battle.

Nick Chubb to the Bears?

If the rumor is true that the 29 year old Chubb is close to signing with an NFC North team, then it has to be the Bears, as we're the only team in the division without a dominant running back, or in the Lions case, a dominant tandem. Even the article says we're the likely destination.

A quick dive into his stats shows prior to 2023, a fairly healthy and consistent ball carrier, with a career 5.1 average, fumbling only 7 times in 1340 carries. Plus he seems to be a decent target in the short passing game. Not familiar with his pass pro, but I'm sure it's at least ok. We just have to keep in mind that the past two seasons he's only played in 10 games total and last year was his worst avg, so it's not like we're getting a back in his prime. But assuming he's returned relatively to full health, he could serve as a solid #2.

Didn’t he have the same kind of injury as Tarik Cohen? Jesus we’re really bottom feeding after that shitshow of a draft…If you wanted a RB, just draft one before the 7th round good lord.

Here's the list of available rbs:

Not much out there, and not sure who we could have taken after Judkins and Henderson were gone by the time we got our 2nd round pick........
JK Dobbins maybe a choice, but he is always hurt.....
