Yeah, his team fell apart when Breece Hall got hurt. He didn't even have two running backs to put in his lineup last week and that was after trading for James Robinson to fill one spot. I talked to him the other day and he was complaining that he couldn't get anybody to trade him a running back. I told him that he was going to have to loosen the purse strings and probably come off of that 1st rounder next year if he wanted somebody decent. I said look at what Dad did. On the surface trading two 1st round picks for a 28 year old running back doesn't make sense unless you are going all out for this year. He said that he doesn't think he has the roster to compete with some of the other top guys so he doesn't think it's worth it. So I told him that he better just learn to live with disappointment the rest of the year then.
I offered him Brian Robinson 18 different ways, however none of them were based on a 3rd and a 4th round pick as the centerpiece

I think some of these guys are just afraid that a trade will make them look bad. Once you get past that and realize everyone has made some trades that didn’t work out or looked bad at the time and ended up being great, it’s easier.

and the weird thing is..its not all that hard to recover from a bad trade. I sold CMAC AND Cooper Kupp to Irish after his rookie year for friggin Jerrick McKinnon and the 1.3..which I used on Rashaard friggin Penny, I was the 4th highest scoring team in the league the following year (Bandit F'ed me in the A on the schedule and I missed the playoffs, but still), 10-3, highest scoring team the next year.
Just have some conviction and roll with the punches, can't win em all

I kick myself for the ones that I didn't accept that would've turned out amazing for me a lot more than the ones I complete that turn out bad, lol

I got LOL'd when I offered Zeke cause he had Breece Hall and didn't need another RB.....oopsie!

sure as shit wasn't offering anything last week when I faced him

Offered Zeke, OBJ, 3rd for Pickens and 1st - not a great offer made by me by any means, but I at least thought it was something to get the discussion rolling

yep I had Brian Robinson, AROB and picks on the table for Pickens and a #1 in various different ways, he kept going back to a 3 and a 5

He started with a 3rd for Gibson. I countered with Gibson and his 2nd back for his 1st and got nothing.

You know that is exactly correct. Hell, I've done so many at this point I've learned that some work out, others don't - but fear certainly shouldn't stop ya from trying. .... heck 3yrs ago I traded the 1st pick of the draft for friggin P. Lindsey and felt good about it at the time. ... easily the worst deal I've ever done. Live, learn and move on - 20 or 30 trades later that one still sticks in my minds - yet it hasn't stopped me from shipping 'um out there.
And BTW - I attempted to make a couple with him while Hall was healthy giving him the you can't make it with only 2 RB's (one was the backup to CEH) but it fell on deaf ears.

I think some of it with him goes back to when he traded me his future 1st to move up in the 2nd during the draft that one year and that caused him to miss out on Najee. But that was a pick he traded a season before, not in the middle of a 5-3 year when he's clearly not going to have the 1st pick next year.

I think your right, that trade has got him scared to trade a first now period. It's the "I'm never doing that again" kind of thing.

Well, Najee was involved with one offer I made to him (this yr) and got shot down (he and Warren for Hall). .... found that very interesting but in retrospect I guess I'm glad for this yr anyway.

Yeah but the Najee now is completely different from the Najee at the time. He was by far and away the consensus #1 pick way ahead of everybody else then and he's an Alabama fan. His problem now is that he has him in so many other leagues that the last thing he wants now is another piece of him. You have to remember that he is in more leagues than anybody else I know, so the rosters he has in other leagues plays into this as well.

LOL. Yes and it's not even close. I found out last year and couldn't believe it, so I actually just texted him to get the exact number this year because I wanted to get it right. He is in 10 dynasty leagues, 22 redraft leagues, and 18 best ball leagues.

cheese n rice!!

you would think with that kind of widespread exposure he'd have a better grasp on trade valuations :).

I think my max at any given time was 30-ish, but that was before I ever found dynasty. Given the year mostly round aspect of dynasty's, I can't handle more than 6-8 nowadays. Maybe I can expand again in retirement..18 years from now (I hope)

The redraft leagues is crazy, seeing how you need to be on top of the waiver wire in each league which is labor intense.

Last year he made the playoffs in 24 of 38 leagues (8 dynasty, 30 redrafts). Made the championship game in 7, the 3rd place game in 5, and lost in the first round in 12. All of them are pay leagues, but most of them are $25 or under.
