Hi guys. Just wondering if we are doing a suicide league this year?

Past commissioners have stepped aside, so I would not setting this up, but since i am not a fan of Fantrax, if I set this up, it would be on Sleeper.

Not sure if that makes or break things? If anything, maybe someone else who is Fantrax savvy wants to take a stab.

Same rules. Standard scoring. No adds or drops. Slow online draft.

Y'all mocked me for taking a kicker early, so I need to think about it...

...thought about. Had a lot of fun kicking everyone's butts, so count me in!

I will be out on this one, unless y'all need a guy to make the numbers work, in that case I'd volunteer to take a spot.

haven't done this one recently and not looking to get back into it

appreciate those that have kept it going, as it is always a fun league, especially looking back at the draft and comparing it to August drafts

I'm out. Drafting is always fun, but come September, it gets to be a chore setting lineups for it.

I was just thinking how Suicide got it's start. ..... Seem to remember it was the overly brash Foot, and to a lesser extent Ram, that planted the seed in Wil's mind to come up with the concept way back in the CBS days. It gained momentum as everyone was tired of the off-season BS bragging and just wanted to beat his ass. ..... Funny to say, but the MBBRL owes a lot of it's successful diversity to ole Foot, as his insane rambling spurred several interesting variations to standard leagues - good times.
Wonder what ever happened to that guy ?

So true.
He may have been terrible at FF, but he was not afraid to share details about his private life on here. He may have gotten some respect for his honesty.
If memory serves, he may have had employment and marital issues, and then one day - poof - he was no longer posting.
Everyone tried to reach him. He was pm'd, emailed... nada.
He doesnt even have a SportsHoopla account anymore.

Kind of sad - as I remember he also developed a gambling problem judging by some of his post and pm's for betting advice. ....

Forgot about that. Wow. Yeah, if he applied his outside-the-box rants to his wagering, that couldnt have paid out.

well the dude was apparently betting heavily on preseason NFL games...that's a problem. I understand betting on a game that matters, but betting on games that are being played by dudes who will be lucky to land on an XFL bench and that no one, including the players/coaches care about who wins? That's just crazy. And he definitely had marital issues..pretty sure he missed his kid's high school graduation because of football/betting if memory serves.

Even I developed a soft spot for the guy, I hope he's alive and well somewhere.

BTW--any of you fellow hoopsters find yourselves betting actually money on NFL preseason games..PLEASE go find help, go to a meeting, call a doctor, call your mother..something. Get yourselves help

Speaking of betting on things you shouldn't, my brother and I bowled together in a league and on our four man team there was one guy that had a hard time picking up the spare when he left a ten pin. So Scott and I started out betting every time he left a ten pen $1 on whether he would make or miss it. We started off just exchanging the money with each bet, but then the third team member decided that he wanted to play too, so every time that guy left a ten pen you had to choose miss right, miss left, or make. And since the whole team was now participating we decided to put the money in a pot and divide it at the end of the year. Well our team sucked but we had a blast each night because betting on just the one guy getting his ten pin turned into betting on every ten pin that any of us left, which turned into random other bets involving spares or anything else. The last week of the season as we were fighting it out for like 30th place, we bet on every single spare that any of us left. The other teams looked so strangely at us when one of us was celebrating a missed spare. We ended splitting like $800 between the four of us and won more money from that than we did in the league. I've won plenty of bowling leagues before, but I had more fun being on that 30th place team than in any other league I've done. So the moral of the story is that sometimes betting on things you shouldn't really does pays off. Although we were betting $1 at a time and there's a good chance that Foot was betting like $1000 on each pre-season game.

wow might have been me

i topped at about a 179 ave but couldnt bag a 10 pin

or i prob would have held an upper 190+
maybe 2 bills

i left 2 ten pins a game on the table some times more...

would have been fun to be on those bets...

i havent thought about bowling in years... Thanks Bandit Great memories

it still blows my mind that some guys could indeed average 195 -205 etc etc in my local leagues all without a hockey stick in hand..

Right? Good stuff.

Yeah, I mean a couple bucks, who buys lunch, who buys the beer or pizza for poker night...shit like that, yeah whatever. But laying down real cabbage on an exhibition? Just boggles my mind.

Can also lead to severe health complications if your in bed with the wrong sportsbooks..and being in Jersey like he was...???
