The ACC isn't quite living up to the hype

A lot of people were making the ACC out to be a historically good conference this year, but their tournament effort has left a lot to be desired. They are down to UNC.

I have enjoyed it, tbh. Though, it is important to remember they sent a record number of teams to the sweet 16 last year. I dont think the quality of the conference between the two years was all that different. Chaos can happen in single game elimination tournaments

Too much is made of what a conference does in the tournament. Not saying the regular season is all that matters, but people need to get off the ledge at the same time.

I can't speak for Duke but all I can say is is that UVA after about the first 15 minutes didn't even look like they belonged in any tournament. That game was downright brutal and embarrassing to watch.

Bummer showing. But they still sent 9 to the tourney. Last year they sent like 7 or 8, had almost half in the 16 and then two in the Final 4. Big picture, its still a strong and fairly deep conference.

I more or less agree, although with the new Big East, it's a little different because we're trying to prove ourselves, so I root for the other teams.

Back in the old Big East, I used to root for UConn to lose with a passion.

Syracuse was that team for me. I couldn't stand them.

Georgetown and St.John's too because they were ugly clones of us and Louisville.

Man that was an competitive conference. Getting 9 wins was a grind.

Ditto for FSU... I wish there were some way that we could keep Hamilton as a recruiter and find an actual coach... I mean seriously. We pretty much packed it in before the game it sounds like, "Oh welp, shit!!! Xavier plays a mean 2-3 zone, we're f**ked!!! Better hope we make our 3's...".

I mean we essentially let the opposing team tell us how we were going to play before the game even began.

I honestly don't think it matters what defense was played. I said it in another thread, that may have been the worst coached team I've ever seen and there was no way they would beat a well-prepared, well-coached team that actually had talent. I certainly would have preferred to play FSU in the S16 than Xavier

Perhaps it ultimately didn't matter, but teams like Syracuse, for instance, that play decent zone defense have ALWAYS given us trouble, and in 15 or so years Hamilton has NEVER really improved upon how we deal with it. We have NEVER been able to break a press, and we pretty much suck at pressing. We recruit good bigs and then don't use them when the chips are down and they are our advantage...

Not making free-throws? You know, I don't even care about that. Some players just suck at free-throws and there isn't much a coach can do about it, but the rest have been issues forever...
