But also if you go through past draft you can always find guys who were taken later who make a much bigger impact for their team than some of the top picks.Depends on the draft....Usually there is a consensus of who the top guys are (be it 1, 2, 3 or even more top guys). If it's a clear #1 or 2 obviouslt best to be at top.
I really don't care if there is a lottery or not, I kind of like it and it may deter a tiny bit of tanking, but it is far less than intended.
My point is often people put far too much weight on getting the #1 overall pick. There are many gems in most drafts, even further down.
