If Hurley leaves for the Lakers....it would be the first time since 1946 the reigning college football and basketball champion coaches didn't return to their schools.

Interesting factoid.
This isn’t even true. Army was the national champ in 1945 and their coach was Red Blaik. He coached the team in 1946. If you’re talking the 1946 national champs that’s ND and Frank Leahy was the coach in 46 and 47.

Go back to where you got this stat and tell em they’re full of shit.

So sad but it is what it is. Many people have tried to help him.

@WiggyRuss @Shanemansj13

Cannot say I've heard of the guy but a pretty good article about Garland/Allen. agree new coach can definitely help but most important I think will be better health......and, yeah, I did not mind at all that he took a shot at fake toughguy Morris

Genuinely feel sorry for Delonte West… he simply cannot get his shit together and all efforts to help him just fall by the wayside.

Definitely some risk there going from college to NBA but he’s achieved so much in college in these last couple years it would be the next step for him to try to expand his legacy
Asked this earlier, has any coach besides Larry the GOAT had great success in the NBA after making their bones in college?

Donovan lost to the heatles in the finals

Kawhi spurs and the dubs in wcf

Say what you want that’s a successful hire

Hurley reminds me of a cross between Del Harris and Pat Riley.

Yeah that's pretty good, probably not enough for the Lakers though.

So Brown for sure. Donovan sort of.

It's pretty rare.

I'm not even sure who is on the list as far from transitioning from college to NBA. I don't know how many great coaches there are in general.
I mean Brad Stevens went from college to NBA. No championships but he was pretty good.

Only a couple if that. Not sure the entire list.

Win a title or at least get close. Did Pitino do much?
For Brown that's obviously a huge factor but I love he was able to do more with less and did not run from a challenge (more likely he'd go if there wasn't one).

Just by memory don't think Petino did much in the NBA.
