Had a cracked rib once, even breathing hurt if it was anything close to a deep breath.

Yea having personally had a broken ankle and a broken rib in the short term the pain management is easier for a broken ankle.

In terms of an intercostal strain (rib) it is very painful for any kind of range of motion. Just saying on this one I side moreso with Allen

Even a strain is shitty. You have to lay on the unaffected side obviously but it still pulls on the affected side.
