I think in a weird sort of way, the Embiid injury and the chance to package Drum justifies the Sixers doing what I’m hoping no one else in the league is willing to do and that’s give up two firsts for Alex Caruso.

Sam Merrill has made Wade expendable for you guys. Royce is a good glue guy who can contribute at both ends in the playoffs.

My comment is about the recent flex of arrogance I’ve seen (just my opinion) for a squad that is 1-6 in playoff caliber contests for this group they have. Sure, the sky is the limit but as we sit here today they really haven’t done anything yet.

I guess.....but making the playoffs in year 5 (4 if no play in) is "something" considering teams in markets that are FA destination cities usually take as long or longer. Especially considering the rebuild started losing arguably the best player ever, with a terrible cap situation and had awful lottery luck (until we got Mobley at 3.....still no picks above 3 and others 5 or later)

Yep. OG, Hart, Donte are all plus defenders. Thibs is great at coaching defense. Even guys like Burks and Bogs can play team defense in the right scheme.


They’ll run into a problem with the Celtics though. Celtics will be able to isolate those guys and pick on them. Not many other teams in the East can do that to them though.

This is ripe for an overpay. With Morey (who loves trading picks not making them) and the Embiid window, you can justify it as you have three firsts. You use two now but the summer reset means you unlock 2 more predraft or 1 more post draft so you really only lose one first round pick bullet.

Sixers need to hold on to that unprotected 2028 Clippers first though.
