Thibs defense is as fundamentally solid as it gets.

Players consistently plug gaps, stunt and recover with text book close outs.

They don’t double because their system works. They force a lot of contested shots. And if a star goes of and the others get held down, Thibs is good with it.

Thibs is an innovator defensively.

After the defensive 3 second rule came to pass, thibs was the first to figure out how to successfully load up on the strong side of the court without violating the rule.

Almost every team uses a variant of Thibs’ original rotation scheme in their base man defense today.
