Very true, I do think Jalen Williams with the Thunder is going to be the exception to this though. He is still improving and he has a very high ceiling I think.
Small college guys leave room for the exceptions to the rule. Curry is a great example. The basketball prospect industry isn’t perfect. If you start at small college basketball you weren’t one and done. You had to do it for a few years for people to take notice. Now with the transfer rules that changes a little bit with small college guys going off in year 1 with their school and then going into the portal to go to another level.

Heat are cheating. They used to not draft these guys and then they’d come out of nowhere. Now they draft them and they come out of nowhere. But to your comment, he’s a 4 year college guy. If he didn’t come in right away and contribute he likely was never going to. There may be a little more ceiling for him to attain but usually who a 4 year guy is coming into the league that’s who he is going to be for 5-6 year career in the NBA.
We'll see...I love my former Bruins but I wasn't optimistic about DTR or Jaquez...

He isn't going to maintain his current level of play but interested to see what he looks like later this season when it passes midway mark and next season to get a better idea of what kind of player he can be.

Hes never going to be All NBA or anything but for a mid to late first rounder to be a 7th man that contributes to winning on your bench is all one should really expect from a guy picked there. A Tyrese Maxey falling to 21 is a rarity.

Sure....

I just want to see it over more than a handful of games and I hope he does. Love my former UCLA guys.

It’s rare for below average athletes who aren’t good shooters (in college) to make it in the nba

Of course the heat are the ones who figure out how to make it work

This is why Pop is a next level Hall of Famer. He found a way to bring his virtue signaling into the context of a game and didn't need to wait until the press conference to virtue signal.

But players load managing is an egregious sin.

This is arrogant shit that’s on brand for him. He’s made a career of telling people how they should think and how they should act. Kawhi quit on those Spurs fans and took meaningful basketball away from them demanding a trade. Whatever. He has every right. But those Spurs fans have a right too in paying good money to come to a game and make their displeasure known.

If Commanders fans want to boo Trent Williams for bailing they have every right. At the same time, Trent Williams can say “Look at that shit! I was right. They aren’t a serious football franchise.” Williams has a dirty streak but I respect the greatness. He’s a Hall of Famer that’s played great for a lot of years.

We don't know that. Nobody saw Jimmy Butler turning into an All NBA player either.

Both players were mishandled by team medical staff

I heard those rumblings with Kawhi but didn’t follow the Williams situation that closely. Meanwhile, Kawhi has been away from that medical staff for 4-5 years now and he’s still getting hurt all the time. Maybe it was Kawhi’s body and not the medical staff’s fault. But also…I’m talking out my ass. I’m not a doctor and I’ve never examined anybody. (Unless you wanna call me a gyno because of all the pussy I’ve explored.)

I call this the Drew Brees Corrolary. People ignore the overwhelming evidence and attach themselves to the exceptions. “It doesn’t matter that so and so is a sub 6 foot QB. Look at Drew Brees.”

A guy like Jacquez has a low ceiling.

Which isn't a put down. At all. I'd be psyched about what he is doing if he were on the Celtics.

Roll players with a mix of some size and good shooting are very valuable in today's NBA.

But solid roll player is his max.

On the downside, Jacquez is always gonna struggle to defend elite wings.
