There is a bit of a conspiracy theory out there that the NBA instructed the refs to lighten up on the foul calls after the all-star game, resulting in these lower scoring games. NBA of course denies this, but the scoring totals really do seem to reflect this overall.

Guess it is true

If that's true then that is crazy lol simply because you are doing it in the middle of the season. Players got used to certain type of calls being made for 50+ games to an intentional switch up? That's something you do during the offseason

My initial reaction to this post was..."so, they play 82 games, then refereeing changes when the playoffs start without announcing it".

But that's different because it changes every year at playoff time, so no need to announce it Teams already know.

Lakers and Golden State both now 3 losses behind Dallas with 15 & 17 games left. Not impossible but does seem like lakers/warriors in that 9 vs 10 elimination game looking more likely as Dallas woke up from their struggles and now on a 4 game win streak

It's not a conspiracy. Brian Windhorst said the league sent out a notice midseason in January what the refs would be doing as a point of emphasis (something they do basically every year at the start and mid point of the season). This time around they said they would look at cutting back on calling fouls where the offensive player is the one trying to draw contact. It wasn't hidden. Teams are just bitching because they can't get easy calls now

Malone needs to have a talk with Joker, there’s absolutely no reason why you should be turning the ball over here, can’t have that.
