But they couldn't fork over a few more mil a year for Mack. Unreal.

It's not the annual salary....it's the guaranteed money.

Mack got $90m guaranteed. Brown got $36M.

The moment that these guys put pen to paper, the Raiders have to write a check for that amount of guaranteed money and put it in the bank. To a cash strapped team like Oakland, they simply can't write a check for $90M for a single player.

Think of it this way:
You are living paycheck to paycheck. You can barely make your ends meet.
But you need a new phone. Do you pay $1000 for a new phone....or do you pay $35.00 a month for 3 years for it? Oakland is living paycheck to paycheck and they can't be giving away $1000 up front to save on the back end of a deal. So they are stuck signing contracts with less guaranteed money even if it means they pay more (or for lesser players) over the long term.

It is why people speculating that Bell will follow Brown to Oakland are wrong IMO. I don't think Oakland will be able to find the cash for a big time guaranteed deal like Bell is going to want.

My guess.... Le'Veon Bell
why does everyone think that? THey have openly said they dont do deals like that. The GM doesnt like me first players. The GM doesnt spend big in FA. They have openly gushed about marlon mack...........i just dont see why everyonbe says this. Just because they have money.

Somebody gets it.

The Raiders are a cash strapped team. Davis is one of the "poorest" owners in the League.

It has nothing to do with money. I think the Colts go after Earl Thomas or Le'Veon Bell...Thomas makes more sense. Mack is serviceable but can he really be a long-term back? I actually think the Jets will be a little more shy bc in the past they have overpaid for players. The Colts are usually smart but I see them making a big play, Bell or someone else.

ok lets circle back to the GM comments on the RB, FA policies, and types of players he goes for

Things change, that being said Bell isnt a need persay
or a smart guy, or a good locker room presence.

So they put me on the tag, yah (yah)
Definitely not gon trip, I got that bag, yah (yah)
Wonder why they treat me like the bad guy
You say I ain't the best, but that's a bad lie
I'ma do what I want, just leave me alone
If I don't do what you want, then you want me gone
I must say, you bein' real aggressive
The way you switch up on me real impressive (yah)
Ayy, I got mod up on my plate
You can see I'm doin' shows, so you think I'm out o' shape
Hate the fact that I won paid
All these people wanna trade
I'm the one they wanna hate
So to me, I'ma target
