heres another write up on this draft pick

People who didn't watch D.K. Metcalf will consider this a steal because "he raanannn a great 40 tiiimmeeee," but Metcalf is not a good player. He is an unbelievable athlete, but he's not a good football player. He's a receiver who has no clue how to run routes, and I expected him to be chosen in the second round. This is right where Metcalf should've been chosen. He has immense upside and could develop into a good player, but he won't be a consistent wideout for a while.

Its probably most appropriate to say that he is a 1st round prospect that had a 7th round college career. I think we've seen enough of these guys bust for teams to figure out that its just not worth the risk.

I know my first reaction when seeing him was that he should go in the third round and I think thats how most NFL teams felt. There is that chance that he could be the best player in the draft, though.

Kind of in line with what I said.
I wonder why the writer didn't mention his 27 reps on the bench, 40+ vertical, cone drill time...
We've seen olympic level runners fail in the NFL. But most didn't test out like Metcalf did.
You can't coach up natural athletic ability much. You can teach them to run routes.

Hardman is less like Tyreek Hill and more like a cross between Jeremy Maclin and Devin Hester. It sounds like they traded up for him because they thought he had more Return potential than the other Wide Receivers at that point.

Hardman has been killing Mizzou for awhile so the Chiefs have probably been scouting him for awhile. His highlight reel is as good as it gets. His level of production just stinks but Georgia does love to run the football.

I think Toub has a lot of influence in the Chiefs organization. If the guy who saw Devin Hester is saying that he is the best returner he's seen since Hester then you listen to him.

I also don't think this was going to be the pick until yesterday. My guess is that they were targeting CB and S in rd2 the whole time and then the Tyreek Hill thing tilted and the Chiefs had to make a move.

Kinda laughing at the Seahawks. They reached for many picks and passed on a stud safety in their own backyard Taylor Rapp. Marquise Blair is about 190 lbs wet.

Seahawks have a history of taking players that they feel will fit there system, that others don't get. Seems to have worked out OK for them. They got a bunch of picks still to make also.

Mack Wilson is still OTB? Any specific reason he is dropping so far?

He was honestly pretty terrible on film. If he played for some other team then he would've gotten exposed horribly imo.

Has to be a reason he fell and didn't go much earlier than so many once thought, but still have to love it. Big, fast CB and a position of need.

His run defense/tackling is the issue but I wouldnt say Ward’s strength is that either and PB the first year.

The fact is if you want a great CB you need speed, obviously they were great all around players but basically all were great athletes and elite speed. It’s something you cant teach, but you can teach how to be a better tackler.

I was wondering why they were hyping him up, he didnt seem like anything special. Didnt run a 40 too, I think

Kinda laughing at the Seahawks. They reached for many picks and passed on a stud safety in their own backyard Taylor Rapp. Marquise Blair is about 190 lbs wet.

Outside of Metcalf, all their picks were technically 'reaches'. Seattle traded back a ton and acquired a lot of picks today so my thought is they were running out of trade partners and basically said, "Oh fuck it, just take the guy we want now."

I understood Collier (and liked it - I think late 2nd is pushing it, I think he would've gone early-mid 2nd), I loved the Metcalf pick - it's an immediate end zone/deep threat, if you have a 1/1 option just fucking chuck it to him)...

As for Blair and Barton... these were puzzling picks to me. Blair was actually under 190 lbs a couple times during the year... he's an aggressive player and from what I WATCHED (Pac-12 fan) a great tackler, but it seemed SUPER early for him. Still... because Carroll is a defensive minded (specializing in secondary) coach who generally has success with those picks, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Barton is... interesting. Maybe just for depth or to shore up our terrible special teams coverage?

Frank Clark if I recall got a C grade from a bunch of analysts too and was considered a reach, so whatever. Seattle's drafts are always unorthodox and outside of 2010 (where basically everyone got an A grade) have always been marked up with D-C grades and the word 'reach' plastered all over the fuckin' articles. Mel Kiper blasted Seattle for taking Wagner and not Kendricks and called it a major reach, as well. Right...

Re: Drafting WR

Unless it's a generational talent, WR don't show value intil their 2nd and for most, 3rd year. Unless there is absolutely no talent on the current roster, A WR is not going to move the needle much.
