Sucks of the Texans that there's no franchise QB in this draft - but surely Clowney is a good consolation prize. I wonder how they're gonna work out the contracts of Watt and Clowney a few years down the road. That'll be an interesting situation to keep an eye on.

Not even remotely suggesting he's a franchise QB but as an aside the texans are supposedly working on a deal to get Mallet (sp?).

From 2 days ago:
So this is officially what I want the Niners to do in the first round.

Plan A: Stay put and take Louis Nix (maybe trade up a few spots to make sure the Pats don't get him)

Plan B: Trade up into the 20's & take Bradley Roby.

Plan C: Trade up to the teens & take Brandin Cooks (the best WR in the draft).

Plan D: Trade back into the late 30's for Verrett.

Plan E: Trade the pick for a late 2nd & a first rounder next year; target Marcus Martin or Donte Moncrief

Plan F: Trade back into the late 40's / early 50's & take Jordan Matthews

Plan G: Trade way up & take Gilbert.

Boom. Lock it in. That's my final answer Regis.

Note: edited to add Verrett 'cause I forgot about him.

About to go to my draft party. I will post on my phone.

I think that is a smart move to trade the #1 to the Lions. Also a good move for Lions even if they give up a lot. Clowney and Suh would be scary. Houston would get more picks to help them out and they still can land a Top talent in the 1st rd to help them out.

Lets Go 49ers.

I like the idea of a big time # 1 WR, but is receiver one of the positions that not many really shine there first year? I seem to remember most rookie WR's having ho hum years.

I think they draft one as an eventual replacement for Boldin and/or Crabtree. A 1st year receiver isn't seeing many snaps in our offense. That's why I'm kinda hesitant to use the 1st rounder on a WR. Instead, we might be able to get a CB that can start from day 1.

Yeah i get that they are for a replacement in the future, but keep hearing super bowl or bust makes you think you need a player who will contribute alot this year. I just somehow think we arnt going WR.

I wouldn't mind a Falcons-like trade to move up for Watkins, honestly, and I rarely ever advocate for trading up.

I think offensively we're close. And getting that immediate, impact WR will do wonders for our offense, IMO.

My wildcard scenario is still trading our 1st to the Raiders or Browns for their 2015 1st.

I was going to say that letting players choose their own entrance music is ANOTHER small annoying tidbit the NFL has come up with to tailor the draft to the common, every day, run-of-the-mill, semi-at-best intelligent fan, but the fact that around 1/4 of the players have chosen either a Drake or Kanye West song makes my blood boil even more. It's not shocking, though.

My favorite entrance to the draft introductions? Taylor Lewan. He looked far less than enthusiastic to be up there.

Some players looked really uncomfortable with that whole display. Cyrus Kouandjio, for example, looked like he wanted to run out of there. I wonder if teams look at that.
