Getting the second pick this year was huge because not only did we get a very high pick (top five) we didn't have to forfeit it to Philadelphia via the Nash trade (Phoenix traded) but we will now owe Philadelphia our 2016 1st round pick (top three protected) via the Nash trade (Phoenix traded). If we do a lot of winning this coming season, that pick may be further down like in the 20's instead of a top ten pick. So, things are really begin to look up as we climb out of the black hole we have been in for the last 5 years or so.

YESSIR! The odds were in our favor tonight, and we are about to reap the benefits in spades. Towns/Okafor, it doesn't matter to me, we're just gonna scoop the one that's there

hehe, wherever jefe101 was last night bet he was whoopin' it up in a major way...:suds:

With some health and a decent FA signing or 2, there's no reason the Lakers shouldn't be in the playoffs next year which would definitely make that pick far less valuable.

Stephen A. could fuck up a wet dream. Really sick of his "angry guy" schtick. Weren't is 15 minutes supposed to be up, like 30 minutes ago?

He was melting down over the Knicks dropping to #4 and losing their shot at Towns/Okafor due to winning some meaningless games at the end of last season. He was blasting Phil as well.

Chase Phil out of NY and sign him back to LA!

This is getting very interesting. There are increasing reports that both Towns AND Okafor disparately want to play for the Lakers. It is getting so intense that some have suggested that the Lakers send Nick Young, Hill, and the 27th pick to Minnesota to get Okafor effectively getting the two top players in this year's draft. In other words, let Minnesota select Okafor, then select Towns and then make the trade. I sure as hell would love to see that scenario unfold because both kids WANT to play for the Lakers. Maybe their agents will force the issue and maybe not. I don't know if this will happen but some folks sure do have an active imagination. lol!

Easy choice between Minnesota and Los Angeles. Wonder if their agents will make a stink or if Towns/Okafor will claim they have AIDS during their interview with Minnesota.

Where did you hear that? Seems kind of far fetched, imo. Not sure Young, Hill and the 27th would be enough for the #1 pick. It sure would be cool if that happened though.

I think half the fun of the draft and FA is going to be all of the rumors that are going to be floating around.

I was listening to ESPN radio this morning here in Phoenix and it was posited by the host and then I saw a mention of it on Yahoo sports. Like I stated, take both sources with a grain of salt but it is an interesting theory though.

That would be pretty amazing if the Lakers pulled that off. I don't see it happening, but it's not like the Lakers haven't pulled off things that no one saw coming before.

Heck, I'd like to see happen just to see the meltdown that would occur on the main boards. :pound:

Starting to hear suggestions that the Lakers consider Russell with the #2 pick.

Nope nope nope nope nope! I would not be happy with that at all.

We already have a future PG prospect in Clarkson, and despite objections, the team is most likely going after Rondo too. I would hate to see either Clarkson or our #2 pick to be THIRD choice PG when we clearly need a big guy like Okafor or Towns!

Yeah, I would think the only way the Lakers would take Russell is if they had a handshake, behind the scenes agreement for someone like Marc Gasol, L.A., Jordan or Monroe. If they took Russell, I doubt they'd go after Rondo.

Outside of that, I don't see how they could pass up Towns or Okafor.

Hey if we get Gasol, Aldridge or DeAndre, i'd happily take Russell too.

In fact,

C - Gasol/Aldridge/Jordan
PF - Randle
SF - Kobe
SG - Clarkson
PG - Russell

is enough to make me
