It gets worse too. If we do beat Minny we get the early time slot against Carolina the following week too. I'm not sure how or why that is but that's what I read.

So another pressing issue that needs to be addressed is: Do we get another playoff song?

Two years ago it was "what does the Hawk say" and last year was "Hawktown Funk". We can't do a playoff run without some hacky remake of a current radio hit. Although I admit Hawktown funk was pretty good.

I'm fine with the 1pm start time on Sunday in Minny, i was pretty much expecting it. The thing that surprises me is the Carolina start time. I figured for being the 1 seed they would get the prime time slot on Saturday night or the late Sunday game. Oh well.

I agree with that, the only reason it's an issue for me is that the NFL bent over backward for the poor, poor East Coast teams when they bitched about having to take trips to the West Coast (because there's soooo many teams in the NFL in the Pacific Time Zone) yet when the point about West Coast teams playing at 10AM was brought up the NFL said we need more data or some bullshit like that. It's pathetic.

I think ratings did factor into it the same way that ratings factored into the recent decision by the networks not to give the Seahawks many primetime home games despite being a frequent Super Bowl contender. The networks might have seen who we were playing, saw how badly we beat them earlier this year, in Minneapolis no less, and decided they didn't want what could be another blowout in one of their later time slots. I personally think this game will be closer than that one was, but I think the networks decided to take the unknown of Green Bay vs. Washington over our game because of that earlier result.

Considering the temp expected I have no issue. What doesn't make sense is how does the #1 seed get the early game next weekend? Shouldn't the #1 be playing on Saturday in primetime? Just a thought.....

Very true. My thought would be from a broadcast stand point the #1 ranked team wouldn't open the day on Sunday; I have all the faith in the Hawks against the paper tiger. Gotta get past the Vikes first.

I guess there are a couple ways to look at the broadcast angle. It may make just as much sense to place the most attractive matchup in the slot that typically isn't as popular because everyone is going to watch it no matter when it's on.

I thought the same thing as well but considering how cold Sunday's game is, they may need about 3 days to defrost before hitting the practice field.
