That's pretty cool, I never heard of them.
They've only been in DC for about 2-3 years. They've gotten very popular in the last year especially. Commuters use them (an increase in bike lines in DC has helped) and the tourists around the Mall like them as well. I know bikeshares are pretty popular in Europe. They have them in DC, Virginia, and stations are opening in Maryland as well.
Btw, it's a good thing that everything around here is closed today. Rush hour would have been a dangerous nightmare this evening if they hadn't.
